. . .  urban makeover

urban makeover, before image, green bean landscape design, toronto, nicolette lintonThe client wished to reclaim her back yard from the tangle of overgrown vines and trees. She needed a new fence to block off a window well and she wanted a low-maintenance garden that she and her dogs could relax in and entertain friends.

The design
By taking out the tree, we brought sunshine back into the yard
and added the feeling of spaciousness that the client wanted. She needed to access the south-east corner to get to her garden hose and tap, hence the river rock pathway. She also needed to keep the river rocks and the A/C in the same place.
We chose double-blooming 'Bloomerang' lilacs for fragrance and a drift of daylilies for low-maintenance impact. The red osier dogwoods provide year-round interest - as does the virginia creeper, which softens the look of the garage wall.
